Rob Taurus 1:48 TBD Devastator (open-closed) is a vacuum-formed clear canopy for a model of the American carrier torpedo bomber, with the option of showing the cockpit either open or closed.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a standalone accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The set from the Czech maker Rob Taurus contains a vacuum-formed clear canopy in 1:48 scale for the TBD Devastator carrier torpedo bomber. The open-closed version makes it possible to assemble the glazing either open or closed. The part is thinner and more transparent than the production plastic.
The Douglas TBD Devastator was an American carrier torpedo bomber of the beginning of the war in the Pacific. It was notable for the long glazing over the crew. It was committed, among other places, in the Battle of Midway, where it suffered heavy losses.
Cut the glazing carefully out of its backing film, sand the edges down and, for maximum transparency, dip it in a clear gloss varnish. Mask the intricate frames with narrow tape, segment by segment. For the open version, use the separate parts as instructed.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
