An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier torpedo bomber Grumman TBF-1C Avenger in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Academy. The kit comes from a proven, very fine mold with a richly broken-up interior - the pilot's cockpit, the dorsal gun turret and the bomb bay - and with decals for the US Navy. Thanks to the quality of the moldings and the detail, it is a model that can be built to a presentable standard even without accessories.
The Grumman TBF Avenger was a robust single-engined carrier bomber which entered combat during the Battle of Midway in 1942 and then served on all the theaters of the Pacific and in the Atlantic as well. The TBF-1C version received heavier fixed armament in the wing. The Avenger carried a torpedo or bombs in a roomy bomb bay, had a crew of three and became one of the key tools of the US Navy in destroying the Japanese fleet.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint the broken-up interior and the gun turret and bring them out before you close the fuselage, and mask the extensive glazing carefully when spraying. Lay a primer and the colors with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss varnish and bring out the panel lines with a wash. For carrier machines it is fitting to add appropriate wear and traces of service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
