A detailed resin cockpit set for a model of the Panavia Tornado IDS strike aircraft in the ASSTA 2 standard in 1:48 scale from the Czech company Aires. The set replaces the simplified cockpit of the base kit with well-worked stations for both crew members with fine detail. It is not a model in its own right — it is an accessory for a separately sold kit.
The Panavia Tornado IDS is a two-seat strike aircraft with variable-geometry wings, developed jointly by Germany, Great Britain and Italy for low-level attack. The Luftwaffe upgraded its aircraft step by step under the ASSTA program; the ASSTA 2 step brought a change of avionics that was also reflected in the cockpit equipment. It is exactly this form of the crew stations that the set captures.
Wash the resin parts in water with detergent and cut the casting blocks off carefully; wear respiratory protection while sanding. Dry-fit everything before gluing — with cockpit tubs it is usually necessary to thin the fuselage walls so that the assembly seats properly. Glue with cyanoacrylate (super glue). Paint the cockpit with a brush or an airbrush and emphasize the instrument detail with a wash and a dry brush.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit of the aircraft is not included in the package.
