This item is a cockpit add-on, not an airplane kit. Quinta Studio prints the motifs of the instrument panel, the side consoles and other interior details with relief and straight away in color; they are applied to the plastic parts of the cockpit as a wet decal. According to the name, the set is completed with 3D printed resin parts that add real three-dimensional bulk where a flat decal is not enough.
Which kit the set is for
Because the manufacturer offers interior sets for the Tornado IDS in 1:48 scale in several configurations according to the basic kit, that detail is the main thing to choose by. The set is cut for the Revell kit. If you are building a Tornado from another manufacturer, look for the corresponding variant.
The Panavia Tornado IDS is the strike and reconnaissance version of the joint British, German and Italian program, two-seat, with a variable-geometry wing and two jet engines. The Luftwaffe and Marineflieger operated the IDS for decades and their machines differ from the British and Italian ones in cockpit equipment and instrument labels, which is why Quinta lists a separate set for each national configuration.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent and cut off the print supports; they are bonded exclusively with super glue. Paint the areas under the decals with a dark base and go over them with gloss varnish: the motifs have no adhesive layer of their own, the gloss is what holds them, and on a flat surface they would not grip. After fifteen seconds in lukewarm water, slide the motif off the backing paper, move it with a soft brush, blot up the excess water with a cloth and on curved areas add a drop of super glue. Do not use a decal softener: its chemistry will attack the printed resin and destroy the motif. Once dry, blend the interior with flat varnish.
