A resin detail set, the American V-1710-89 V12 engine in 1:48 scale from Aires. It is an engine accessory, not a model of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from Aires in 1:48 scale portrays the American liquid-cooled Allison V-1710-89 V12 engine. It is not an aircraft kit but a standalone engine accessory that replaces the simplified part of a base kit with a finely made resin engine. The set is intended for more experienced modelers who want to open up the engine section.
The Allison V-1710 was an American twelve-cylinder V engine of the Second World War. The V-1710-89 version was among the powerplants of the twin-engine Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter, where the left and right engines turned in opposite directions. The engine was marked by a rugged structure and, in its later versions, by supercharging for higher output at altitude.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The engine comes into its own with careful painting of the metal and aluminum shades, with the lines picked out and gentle grime added. Check that it seats in the engine section of the base kit before closing the cowling.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not the airplane model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
