A loose scenery material from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. It contains laser-cut paper leaves with a generic, deliberately unspecific leaf shape — they are not tied to a particular species, so you can use them for bushes, undergrowth, hedges and for broadleaf trees you do not want to pin down botanically. The extra autumn colors version means a more varied mix of yellow, ocher, orange and brown tones. It is not a finished tree and not a tree kit, but a loose material to be sprinkled and glued.
The universal leaf shape is practical where foliage mixes together and the individual shape is lost: fallen leaves under crowns, drifts against walls and fences, leaves on roofs, in gutters, on tarpaulins and in the beds of parked vehicles. It is also used as foliage for bushes and low growth, where a pronounced species shape would be distracting, and as an additional layer between the leaves of particular species, which gives a scene depth.
Areas are fixed with thin white PVA glue diluted with water and a drop of dish soap, applied with a sprayer over the sprinkled foliage. On bushes and tree armatures the leaves are sprinkled in layers into tacky glue, so that the mass of the crown builds up. It pays to vary the density — a dense carpet in places, elsewhere only individual leaves with the terrain showing through. Once dry, the whole can be unified with a light overspray of matte varnish.
The material is supplied as loose foliage. The glue, the tree armature and any further scenery accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
