The model captures the late modernized version of the Sherman with HVSS suspension and a gun of 76 mm caliber. The M4A3E8, nicknamed the Easy Eight (after the E8 designation), was a late and capable version of the Sherman. It received the new HVSS running gear with horizontal springs and wider tracks, which improved the ride and the traction. It carried a longer gun of 76 mm caliber with better penetration and was powered by a Ford GAA engine. It was deployed in the closing stage of the Second World War and later in the Korean War as well, where it was one of the mainstays of the American armored forces.
In 1:48 scale, assemble and paint the HVSS running gear and the lower hull before you close the parts up: the wider tracks and the bogies are a characteristic feature. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. After spraying the olive green camouflage, emphasize the panel lines with a wash and add restrained dust and mud effects with pigments.
