The model has a molded anti-slip surface on the main areas and tracks assembled from runs with straight sections for a faithful look. A weight, which gives the model a pleasant heft, is usually included as well. Marking options for American tanks are not missing either.
The M1A2 Abrams is an American main battle tank, introduced from the beginning of the 1990s as a digitized modernization of the M1 series. It brought improved electronics, a commander's viewer and armor with depleted uranium elements. It proved itself in the fighting in the Middle East and it belongs among the most widespread modern tanks of Western production. It carries a smoothbore gun of 120 mm caliber and massive multi-layer armor.
First finish and paint the running gear and the tracks while they are accessible. A restrained weathering suits the single-color desert or green-gray base — fine dust pigments and a light highlighting of the panels. The molded anti-slip surface stands out well after a thin wash and fine dry brushing. Take care to seat the assembled tracks with their straight sections evenly, so that the vehicle stands firmly on all its wheels.
