This set brings 3D-printed resin replicas of the American Mark 83 aerial bomb in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket accessory of external stores with which you fit out the pylons of an already built model and replace the coarser plastic parts.

The real subject

The Mark 83 is an American low-drag general-purpose bomb weighing roughly 1000 pounds from the standard Mk 80 series. It ranks between the Mark 82 and the Mark 84 and is widespread armament on modern tactical and carrier-borne aircraft.

Use and building tips

• Wash the uncured print resin residue off the parts and separate them from the print supports.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Do the sanding with respiratory protection, ideally wet.
• Apply a primer before painting; the fine fins and lugs are easily damaged.
