1:48 US WW II Tank Commander is a resin figure of a vehicle commander in 1:48 scale, conceived for fitting into an open turret hatch.

A stand-alone resin figure in 1:48 scale. Commander figures differ from infantry in what they are modeled for: they do not stand on the ground but rise out of an open hatch, so in a scene they are not seen whole. The way the casting is worked corresponds to that.
A figure for a hatch is the most effective accessory a model of an armored vehicle can get. An empty open hatch comes across as a hole and a vehicle without a crew loses its size; as soon as a figure appears in it, the viewer suddenly sees how high the turret is and how wide the hull extension is. In view of that, however, the involvement of the casting changes: only the chest and head rise above the outline of the turret, so all the attention belongs to the upper half. The legs and the lower part of the torso can be shortened so that the figure fits inside the turret; before that, though, check whether the interior of the model is visible from behind or through the vision ports. In the final composition it pays to turn the head away from where the barrel points, as the scene thereby gets a second direction of view and stops looking static.
Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and scrape the parting line along the sides of the arms and across the shoulders with a scalpel held flat. Then comes a dry fitting into the hatch, any shortening of the lower part and a test again. Only then wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and spray on a thin primer. It pays to paint the figure off the model, as once it is seated in the turret a brush will reach it only with difficulty. Do the face and hands last, on finished clothing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and sand wet and with respiratory protection.
The figure is supplied unpainted, as a resin casting. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
