This product is a standalone decal sheet in 1:48 scale from Caracal Models, not a kit. Its theme is the large identification codes of the US Air Force, known as buzz numbers, and a trio of related Lockheed types: the F-80 fighter, the T-33 trainer and the F-94 fighter. The exact extent of the sheet, that is, which codes it contains and how many, is shown by the illustration on the packaging. Compare it with what you need for your model before buying.
Large codes on the sides of the fuselage and on the underside of the wing were carried by American military aircraft roughly from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. The code consisted of a letter part denoting the type of machine and a numeric part derived from the serial number; the purpose was to allow a low-flying aircraft to be identified from the ground. The Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star was one of the first American jet fighters in operational service, the two-seat T-33 was derived from it as a trainer, and the F-94 was a fighter from the same design line with a radar in the nose for flight in poor conditions.
Large decals are rewarding to apply, but they do not forgive an uneven surface: lay them onto well smoothed gloss clear, otherwise air gets trapped under the film and the edges silver. Characters set in a row are easier to line up if you add a drop of dish soap to the water, because the decal then slides across the surface and can be moved until the line sits right. Trim the film as close to the print as possible and blot off the excess water with a soft cloth, working from the center outward. On surfaces broken up by engraving, decal softener helps pull a large decal down into the detail. Finally, seal everything with a clear coat in the sheen you want.
Decals are a modeling accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
