An injection-molded plastic kit of the American McDonnell Douglas F-4B/N Phantom II carrier-based multirole fighter in 1:48 scale from Academy. The box contains parts in gray plastic, clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet; it is best to check the exact contents and the markings on the sheet in the box.
The Phantom II was a two-seat, twin-engine carrier aircraft of the US Navy and the Marine Corps, used intensively during the Vietnam War. The F-4B was the early production version for the US Navy and the US Marine Corps; the F-4N came from its later modernization with updated avionics and a strengthened airframe. It was powered by two General Electric J79 turbojets and its armament consisted of air-to-air guided missiles complemented by a bomb load on external stores.
Paint both tandem cockpits in detail and seat them before you close up the fuselage, because they are hard to reach once it is glued. Cover the canopy glazing with masks and attach it only after painting; you can show it open. Treat the joints with thin liquid cement for plastic and fit the external stores (pylons, missiles, drop tanks, bombs) at the very end. Spray the surface with primer, lay the shades on with an airbrush and bring out the panel lines discreetly with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
