A supplementary set of scaled-down tools of the kind carried clamped to the hulls of American armored vehicles. These are resin and plastic accessories, not a photo-etched fret. The set is intended for use on an already purchased kit in 1:48 scale or in a diorama scene; it is not a standalone model.
Tools on armored vehicles are not decoration: they were part of the equipment without which the crew could neither recover a bogged-down machine nor repair a damaged track. On kits in a small scale, however, they tend to be cast directly in the surface of the hull, and once painted they merge with the base. Separate resin parts have a real volume, they cast a shadow and they can be painted separately: a wooden handle in wood, a metal part in steel. A contrast thereby appears on the model that was missing until now. At the same time you can place the tools according to the period photograph you are building from, instead of accepting the layout the mold dictates.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water with a soft brush, as there tends to be residue of mold release agent on the surface through which paint does not hold, and that is the most frequent reason a paint finish fails. Let the parts dry perfectly. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and never snap them off, as a small part will break where it is thinnest. Do not breathe in the sanding dust from resin, work with extraction or a respirator and sand wet. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate, as cement for plastic has no effect on resin. A primer comes before painting, and on it both acrylic and enamel will go.
