This is a resin detail set from CMK in 1:48 scale that brings a pair of Vickers K aircraft machine guns as used at the rear defensive station of the Westland Lysander. It is not an airplane model but an armament accessory. The set offers two versions of the weapon: an earlier one with a ring and bead sight and a later one with a modern reflector sight without ring or bead. Ammunition drums on a swiveling mount are included as well. According to its name the set is intended for Airfix kits.
The Vickers K was a fast-firing aircraft machine gun popular on defensive and reconnaissance machines. The accessory replaces the simplified plastic parts with faithfully cast resin guns and lets you show the earlier or the later sighting arrangement according to the particular Lysander you are depicting.
Wash the castings to remove mold release residue, cut off the fine casting blocks carefully and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The metallic look of the weapons comes from a dark base coat, a fine dry brush and burnishing with graphite.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
