This detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard is intended to refine a model of the American space probe Voyager in 1:48 scale markedly. The photo-etched parts replace and complement the fine structural elements of the probe – antenna and instrument details, braces and small parts that are simplified in plastic for production reasons. It is not a kit of the probe, but an aftermarket accessory to an existing model.
The probes Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 were launched by NASA in 1977 to explore the outer planets of the solar system. They explored Jupiter and Saturn, and Voyager 2 also Uranus and Neptune; both probes eventually headed into interstellar space and belong among the most distant human creations. A characteristic element is the large parabolic antenna and the boom with instruments.
Separate the fine parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and make the bends along the etched grooves. Use cyanoacrylate for gluing. Before painting, degrease the parts and prime them with a primer suitable for metal.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
