An injection-molded plastic kit of the British twin-engine Second World War fighter in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. The box contains gray and clear plastic with finely engraved panel lines, a cockpit with an instrument panel and decals. The Whirlwind is a less common type that stands out pleasantly in a collection of British aircraft.
The Westland Whirlwind was the first British single-seat twin-engine fighter armed with cannons, and for its time one of the fastest and most heavily armed aircraft. It carried a concentrated battery of four cannons in the nose. Its service was, however, complicated by problems with the development of the Rolls-Royce Peregrine engines, because of which only a small number were built and the aircraft served with a few RAF squadrons, mainly as a fast low-level attack fighter.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting and spray the paints with an airbrush; masking film makes clean canopy glazing easier. With British camouflage schemes you will appreciate a light emphasis of the panel lines and discreet weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
