This set from DEF Model brings replacement tires and rims in 1:48 scale meant for the German Steyr Type 1500A off-road car of the Second World War. The wheels are intended for the Tamiya kit.
The wheels are cast in quality modeling resin and faithfully imitate the period tread of the tires. The main merit is the weighted wheel effect, where the lower part of the tire is slightly flattened and sagged as if the weight of the vehicle were bearing down on it. The model then looks realistic.
The resin castings stand out with sharp definition of the tread and the sidewalls and are a marked improvement over the plastic parts. Before gluing, it is best to wash the parts and remove the casting gates.
