A photo-etched add-on set in 1:48 for a model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-9D fighter. It adds the detail that a plastic part is too coarse for.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yakovlev Yak-9 was among the most numerous Soviet fighters of the Second World War. It is a single-engined low-wing monoplane of mixed construction, in which wooden parts went together with a metal wing spar, and a liquid-cooled Klimov V12 engine powers it. The version with the letter D received a larger fuel load in the wing, so it extended its range markedly over the basic pattern and could escort ground attack and bomber aircraft deeper beyond the front. It paid for that with a somewhat higher takeoff weight and less agility.
This is a set of photo-etched parts from thin metal sheet made for a Yak-9D model in 1:48. Photo-etching manages the thickness and the fine structure that a plastic part cannot capture in this scale, which makes it right for belts, fittings, grilles and flat detail. Which particular parts the set replaces and where they belong is given in the instructions supplied with the set.
Work over a surface with a raised edge, so that a small part does not spring off onto the floor. Separate the parts from the carrier sheet with the cut of a sharp blade against a hard surface. Make the bend along the marked score line and press along the whole length at once; pressure at one point leaves the edge wavy. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and cover it with a primer coat, or the paint will rub off during handling. Cyanoacrylate glue applied in the slightest drop suits the work; any excess will dull the surface around it.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
