About product

Eduard LööK instrument panel 1:48 Zlin Z-226 Trener

An accessory from the LööK range, which Eduard keeps as finished colored instrument panels for particular types of aircraft. The point of it is simple: instead of painting an instrument panel laboriously, applying individual dials and dealing with the glass of the gauges, you get a part that is finished in color and ready to be fitted into the cockpit. On trainers with a large glazed cabin that pays off twice over, because you really can see into the interior on a finished model.

The real subject

The Zlin Z-226 Trener is a Czech two-seat trainer and aerobatic low-wing monoplane with fixed landing gear and a piston engine, belonging to the postwar Trener family. The type came about by the gradual development of earlier machines and was offered in several forms, among them a single-seat aerobatic version. The aircraft found a use in basic and advanced training, in flying club operation and, in the aerobatic versions, in competition flying too. The instrument fit of the cockpit matches a trainer of its day, that is classic round dials laid out on a panel in front of both seats, which from a modeling point of view is an element that greatly affects the final impression of the interior.

Usage tips

The part is fitted in place of the original instrument panel from the kit, which usually has to be removed or thinned down so that the new element seats correctly. Try it dry and take material off in small steps. Glue in spots, ideally with cyanoacrylate glue in gel form, so that the glue does not run onto the visible side. Do not touch the colored surface with your fingers if you can help it, and do not paint over it. If you want to match the result with the rest of the cockpit, work only on the edges of the part and on the frame of the panel. Fit it before the fuselage is closed up, but as late as possible, so that the part is not damaged during further building.

Who the accessory is for

  • Builders of the Zlin Z-226 Trener model in 1:48 scale
  • Modelers who want a good interior without detailed painting of gauges
  • Beginners who find painting tiny dials difficult
  • Those building a model with an open or well-glazed cockpit

This is not a kit of the aircraft. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. The part is supplied finished in color and should not be painted over. At most you can fine-tune the edges and the frame of the panel.

In most cases the original plastic panel has to be removed or thinned down. Try it dry and take material off gradually.

The set is conceived as a finished instrument panel. The exact package contents are given on the packaging.

It is not. It is an accessory for the cockpit; the plastic kit has to be obtained separately.
