A figure of a member of the SNB on traffic duty in 1988, with a traffic signaling paddle, in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SNB, the National Security Corps, covered police work in Czechoslovakia until 1991, and traffic duty fell under its Verejna bezpecnost, the public security branch. A patrol at the roadside was as much a part of the picture of the roads of the day as the signs and the white lines. The traffic signaling paddle, a round disc on a short handle, was the basic tool of that work: a raised hand with the paddle meant an order to stop and was visible sooner than anything else the officer carried.
The figure in 1:35 scale captures an officer on traffic duty in 1988. It will find a use with models of period vehicles, in a scene with a car being pulled over, and as a standalone figure in a display case beside vehicles of the 1980s. Civilian and police subjects like this in 1:35 scale tend to be in short supply, even though they give a scene its time and place better than any accessory.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and carefully sand the remainder, so that the folds of the uniform are preserved. Wash and degrease the figure before painting and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. The raised arm with the paddle is the most conspicuous part of the whole figure, so give the shoulder joint time to cure and try the angle dry against the vehicle in the scene first. Paint the paddle separately and smoothly; unevenness shows at once on a small flat surface. Leave the face and hands for last.
For modelers of period vehicles and collectors who build scenes of the 1980s in 1:35 scale. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
