Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic model from the Japanese company FineMolds captures the two-seat F-4EJ Kai jet. The name gives the assignment to the 302nd Squadron, whose badge was the white-tailed eagle, and in the English rendering the unit is designated White-Tailed Eagle. 1:72 is a rewarding scale for this type: the model stays a reasonable size on the shelf and the shape peculiarities of the airframe still stand out on it.
The F-4EJ was the Japanese license version of the American F-4E Phantom II fighter. It is a twin-engine aircraft with characteristically upswept wingtips and drooping horizontal tail surfaces, which make the silhouette of the type unmistakable. The suffix Kai belongs to the later modernization, in which the machines were given new cockpit equipment and avionics. In Japanese service these aircraft lasted until the end of the 2010s and were among the last Phantoms in operation anywhere, which made them a sought-after subject.
A thin cement for plastic applied by capillary action into the seams has proved itself, as it keeps the surface clean. Unify the whole airframe with a primer before spraying and check the filler on the fuselage seams against the light. The gray schemes of the Japanese Phantoms stand out when you lay the shades on in several thin coats and keep the difference between them subtle. A gloss intermediate coat suits the area under the decals, and once it has dried you flatten the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package.
