1:48 F-14D Tomcat is an Eduard masking set for the glazing of a model of the American carrier fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Into this set Eduard has put die-cut self-adhesive shapes for the glazing of a model of the American carrier fighter in its last production version. Under the same name the manufacturer also keeps a photo-etched set for the interior; this item is the masking one and is not to be confused with the photo-etched set, as what tells them apart is their contents.
The final version of the Tomcat had a large hinged canopy for a crew of two, a windshield with a fixed frame and, under the nose, a twin sensor head. The frames are narrow and long, so outlining them by hand with tape almost always ends in a wavy line. A die-cut shape shortens this part of the build to a few minutes and the edge stays straight.
Stick the shapes onto clean, dry glass, then spray the color of the frame, or first the shade of the cockpit, so that the frame looks right from the inside as well. Keep the coats thin and let them go tacky between passes; a heavy coat will create a step on the edge. Gray naval schemes have a flat finish, so small details are easily touched up with a brush once the masks are off. Anyone who wants the cockpit open should paint the canopy apart from the fuselage and fit it at the very end.
This set holds neither a model of the aircraft nor paints.
