Six castings of car batteries for car models in 1:24 scale, in two different versions with three pieces each. An add-on for an open engine bay, where the empty place left by the battery is conspicuous.
Responsibility details are not available.
Car models are built with the hood raised more often today than they used to be, and with that grows the demand on what is visible underneath. The battery is one of the elements the eye looks for automatically, because everyone knows it from their own car. Yet a kit either does not hold one at all or deals with it as a coarse block with no terminals and no label. Six castings in two versions let a modeler pick the shape that suits the particular subject and use the remaining pieces in further builds or in a garage scene.
The casting is separated from the sprue gate with a cut, the surface is sanded flat and the part is tried dry to see whether it fits between the surrounding parts of the engine bay. Only then comes the glue. Before painting, the surface has to be washed in lukewarm soapy water, because remnants of mold release agent repel paint and the coat then peels off under a fingernail.
The body is sprayed in a matte color, the lid is set apart in a semi-matte shade and a dark glaze is wiped into the corners so that the edges stand out. The terminals are painted in a metallic shade and soiled slightly, because a new shiny contact practically does not exist in a car in service. The maker's label on the side is best suggested with a small element from a spare decal sheet; it is stuck onto a spot overcoated with gloss and once dry it is evened out with a matte overspray. The cables are added from thin wire.
