A model of the Japanese Mitsubishi F-2A multirole fighter. The item is listed with the name Kei Nagase and with the designation 19th Task Force, which is the naming of a particular color scheme, not information about a real unit.
The F-2A grew out of the American F-16, but it is a different aircraft than it seems at first glance. It was given a markedly larger wing made of composites, a lengthened nose and a longer fuselage, so it carries more fuel and armament and stays out longer over the sea. It was among the first production fighters with an active electronically scanned array radar. It is powered by a single turbofan engine. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force assigned it above all to tasks over the sea.
Paint the cabin and the nose gear bay before you close the fuselage, because afterwards you will no longer get to them. Dry fit the parts; on jet aircraft the joint of the nose with the fuselage and the fit of the air intake take the most work. Mask the canopy glazing before spraying, not once the paint has dried. Apply the paint in thin coats, otherwise the fine engraving of the panel lines will be lost. Prepare a gloss varnish under the decals, as a silvery veil forms around them on a matte surface.
The package contains the model kit. Paints, glue and tools are not included unless stated otherwise.
