A sheet of license plates of German command units of the Second World War, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of markings intended for finishing models of German vehicles of the Second World War period. It concentrates on the plates carried by the vehicles of command and staff units, that is, on a group that differed from ordinary units by its markings alone.
A license plate is a small thing on a model, but it is the first thing a viewer looks for when he wants to know who the vehicle belonged to. The German army used letter prefixes according to the branch of service, and it is precisely by these that a machine can be placed with a particular part of the armed forces. Without a plate a vehicle looks indefinite, as if it belonged nowhere.
Builders of German equipment who want to give their vehicles a particular affiliation, and makers of dioramas with a staff theme, where vehicles of various branches stand side by side.
The plate was placed at the front and at the rear, and on some types on a folding bracket, so that it did not block access. On a model it therefore pays to check where the subject had it, instead of sticking it onto the first flat surface. A badly placed plate is more visible than none.
These are the markings alone, and neither the model of the vehicle nor paints are included.
