The second pose from the range of figures from the French brand Dynamo Models captures a tank crewman in a relaxed stance, the kind that suits scenes at rest or while looking a vehicle over. The figure is of resin, in 1:35 scale, and the two enclosed heads allow the American or the French execution to be chosen.
Tank crewmen spent more time outside their vehicle than one would expect: waiting for orders, replenishing ammunition, taking a break in the shade of the hull. A figure in a field blouse and tall boots therefore fits a combat scene just as well as a quiet scene in the rear. The sculpt was prepared by the brand's author by digital modeling, which shows in the sharpness of the buckles, the buttons and the folds of cloth on the back and at the elbows.
The arms and the head are fitted only after the base coat on the torso has dried, because otherwise it is harder to get a brush into the armpit. Small gaps in the joint of the shoulder are filled by a drop of thicker super glue, which can be sanded down once dry. The leather of the boots gains depth when a thin dark wash is drawn over a brown base and the edges are brightened with a dry brush.
You get the figure without a finish, and the resulting look will be set by the palette you choose.
