1:16 French Kepi is a resin set of two French kepis for large figures in 1:16 scale from the Firma49 brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 brings two cast kepis intended for completing or re-dressing a figure in the large 1:16 scale. It is a standalone accessory for modifying the head of a figure, not a complete figure.
The kepi is a low cap with a flat top, a stiff band and a hinged lacquered peak. The French army adopted it in the middle of the nineteenth century and it became one of the most recognizable European military headdresses of all. The color of the crown and the band originally gave away the wearer's branch and rank, and the braid on the top the rank of an officer. In field conditions the kepi gradually gave way to the helmet and to lighter caps, but as a ceremonial and service headdress it has survived to this day and the Foreign Legion wears it too, where the white version has become established.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that no mold release layer is left on the surface. Cut the casting remnant off with a saw or a cutter and level the surface with a file. Cyanoacrylate glue will serve for attaching it to the head. When painting, let the difference stand out between the matte cloth of the crown and the glossy lacquered peak, and finish the braid and the button with a fine brush.
The accessory is supplied as an unpainted casting; paints and glue are not in the package.
