The ten castings in one package will cover a whole squad. Five helmets have camouflage netting modeled on, and another five carry, besides the netting, added camouflage material as well, so one set is enough for a group of figures that look varied.

A helmet that came about for jumping

The airborne steel helmet differed from the infantry one fundamentally: it had no protruding rim for a parachute strap to catch on, and it held firmly thanks to a chin fastening with a cup under the chin. The Mk 2 model was given a modified suspension system and a more reliable attachment. It was worn by British and Allied paratroopers in Normandy, at Arnhem and during the crossing of the Rhine, and in outline it is unmistakable, because the smooth hemisphere covers the ears lower than an ordinary helmet does.

Working with the castings

In 1:35 scale the netting is already clearly legible but stays fine, so do not lay a thick coat of paint on it. The best way is a dark base coat, then a dry brush in a lighter shade, which lifts the texture of the mesh, and finally spot toning of the individual camouflage elements. Set the chin strap off with a leathery brown tone.
