1:32 Arctic Splinter - camouflage masks for the aggressor F/A-18 Hornet bring three sheets with the broken winter scheme such as American aggressor squadrons carry.
Responsibility details are not available.
Three sheets of pre-cut masks make it possible to spray the striking Arctic Splinter scheme onto a large model of the Hornet. The sharp geometric areas are based on the coloring that the US Navy gave its aggressor machines so that at exercises they would recall Russian fighters. The cut corresponds to the classic Hornets of versions A to D in 1:32.
The aggressor squadron VFC-12 received this finish on its transition to the F/A-18A+ late in 2012 and replaced an older blue-gray camouflage with it. The models were the broken patterns of the Russian Su-35 and MiG-29: light and dark wedges at sharp angles are meant to disrupt the perception of the shape of the airframe. On the smaller American aircraft the pattern looks even more aggressive than on the original machines.
The pattern consists of a great many fields, so it works well to paint from the lightest shade and to proceed part of the airframe at a time. The edges of the wedges should stay sharp, so lower the air pressure rather than not and lay the paint at right angles to the edge of the film. Before removal let the layer really dry, as otherwise the sharp edge will tear away. Divide the more extensive parts of the film into smaller sections; on the rounded nose no folds then form and the pattern holds its proportions.
