1:48 F-4E Phantom II IAF Israeli Air Force Camouflage Paint Masks Set brings a pair of sheets with the cut desert scheme of the Israeli Phantoms.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two sheets of pre-cut masks capture the striking desert scheme in which the Israeli Phantoms flew over Sinai and the Golan. The cut is compatible with most 1:48 moldings of the F-4E versions and the reconnaissance RF-4, and as an extra there are stencils of the Israeli stars in the set.
The first Israeli F-4Es arrived in 1969 under a delivery program and were given the name Kurnass, that is, sledgehammer. The reconnaissance version flew under the designation Orev, raven. The machines went through the War of Attrition and the October War of 1973 and later through a deep upgrade, thanks to which they lasted in active service longer than with any other country. They were used for attacks on ground targets, for reconnaissance and for the fight for air superiority, so several roles merged in a single type.
The pattern is composed of three covering tones of sand, brown and green on the upper surfaces; the underside stays light. The edges of the fields are sharp, which is precisely the case where a mask works better than freehand spraying. The star stencils then make it possible to spray the national insignia without using a decal, which comes in useful especially on the sides of the fuselage, where a large film is laid over riveting only with difficulty.
The package consists of masks and stencils; nothing else is enclosed with it.
