1:48 MG 151/20 2.pcs are two 3D printed German 20 mm aircraft cannons for adding to models in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The pair of 3D printed weapons captures the German MG 151 aircraft cannon in its 20 mm version. Printing makes it possible to render shapes that cannot be got into injection-molded plastic: the lightening cut-outs of the receiver, the ribbing and the proportions of the barrel. They come in wherever the gun is visible on the model, in an open gun bay, in an underwing pod or in a workshop scene beside a stripped aircraft.
The Mauser MG 151/20 came about by reboring the original 15 mm design for the 20 x 82 mm round, and from 1941 it became the main onboard weapon of the Luftwaffe. It fired about seven hundred rounds per minute and its thin-walled high-explosive shell held an unusually large charge, so few hits were needed. The Messerschmitt Bf 109 carried it as an engine-mounted cannon firing through the propeller hub, the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in the wing roots, and so did night fighters and ground-attack machines; the Italian allies used it as well.
Separate the parts carefully from the print supports, sand the marks left by them with fine paper and wash the surface so that the paint holds. The resin is brittle, so do not twist the barrels. Apply the primer in thin layers so that the fine detail is not flooded; a metallic look is well caught by graphite powder burnished on the edges.
