A figure of a French commando from Philippe Kieffer's unit in 1:48 scale, in a marching stance. The number in the name distinguishes the individual versions within the line.
Responsibility details are not available.
The French commandos under the command of Philippe Kieffer belonged to the Free French Forces and served within British Commando units. They were trained and equipped the British way and took part in the Normandy landings, where they advanced together with British detachments. For modelers they are a rewarding subject precisely because their equipment combines British items with French allegiance.
This is a figure in 1:48 scale captured in a marching stance, that is moving forward with its equipment on. The number in the name distinguishes the individual versions within the line, so a whole column of figures with different postures can be put together step by step. How many parts the figure is made up of and how they are fitted together are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remnant down carefully, so as not to wipe away the engraving of the folds of the clothing and the webbing. Wash and degrease the figure before painting; paint does not hold on a greasy surface. Paint the face and the hands before you set the figure into the scene, because they are hard to reach with a brush later. Choose the kind of glue according to the material of the figure and the exact procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The figure suits dioramas of the fighting in Western Europe and also stands on its own as a display-case item for collectors of painted figures. In 1:48 scale it gives a human measure to the equipment it stands beside, and a story to the scene. The package holds the figure; paints, glue and a base are not included, unless stated otherwise.
