1:72 The Concrete Walls 5 pieces holds five parts of the concrete walls that divided the districts of Syrian cities during the civil war.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of five elements from which a dividing wall is put together on a diorama. Walls exactly like these became the most eloquent element of the urban landscape in the Syrian conflict: they went up across a street, cut it in two, and the districts behind them went on living separately. For modelers they are an ideal backdrop for a scene of street fighting, because they simply explain why a vehicle is standing right here and going no further.
The manufacturer derives the set above all from Aleppo, one of the oldest and historically most important cities of Syria. Concrete walls there separated areas under the control of different sides of the conflict. They did not only serve as a barrier against snipers and vehicles but also gave physical form to the deep political and social differences among the inhabitants, and they are a reminder of the destruction of cultural heritage the war brought.
Concrete is never uniform; mix two or three close gray shades for yourself and alternate them from part to part. Bring the base out with a dry brush on the edges and add traces of stirred-up dust to the lower part. Credibility is helped a great deal by a different age for the individual pieces, with lettering or bullet marks on some panels only.
The walls are supplied in a raw state; paint of your own is needed to finish them.
