The pre-cut masking templates 1:72 Lockheed S-3A Viking Painting mask from SX-Art for spraying the glazing and the frames of the carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a sheet of pre-cut masking templates from the SX-Art brand, not the aircraft itself. The shapes follow the glazing of the cockpit and the frames around it, so laborious cutting of strips along a ruler falls away and the edges come out sharp along their whole length.
The Lockheed S-3 Viking was a carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft of the US Navy. It entered service in the middle of the 1970s, carried a crew of four and was powered by a pair of turbofan engines in nacelles under the wing. For its characteristic sound the crews called it the Hoover. The S-3A guise was the original production version; the machines flew from the decks of aircraft carriers long after the end of the Cold War, in their later years in tanker and reconnaissance duties as well.
The templates are lifted off the sheet with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and offered up to a degreased surface. Work the pressure from the middle out to the edges, so that no air is left under the film. Apply the paint in thin layers, because a heavy layer tends to creep under the edge. Take them off at an angle to the surface while the paint is not yet fully cured.
The package holds masking templates only. Paints and the aircraft do not belong to it.
