Another of the numbered figures devoted to American special operations in Southeast Asia. It is produced by printing from resin and the package holds a single figure with no finish applied. Pulling out a threatened patrol was one of the most demanding tasks for helicopter crews. When there was no landing to be had, straps were lowered and the men hooked themselves into them in flight, to get out of an area under fire. The pilots circled meanwhile over growth in which the ground could not be seen, guided only by a smoke signal. A scene with tense figures looking toward the sky is therefore one of the most rewarding subjects of the whole conflict, and a single figure can give it meaning.
If you want to tell a story, turn the figure away from the viewer and let it react to something off the base. You suggest dust stirred up by the rotor with a light pigment applied from the bottom up along the trouser legs. Leave the hair and the exposed areas in a warmer tone, otherwise the figure comes across as flat. Choose a base on the smaller side, so that the tension stays concentrated around the single figure.
The item is intended for further work; paints and thinner are not included.
