The fifth number, 1:35 MACV SOG Soldier Vietnam 05, closes the first half of the line of American special operations figures.
Responsibility details are not available.
The last of the five opening numbers of the line. Like the others it is one resin figure intended to be assembled and painted, printed at fine resolution. The modeler puts the set together according to his own idea of how a patrol was made up; the individual numbers are designed so that they can be combined.
Alongside the Americans from the special operations units, the greater part of the manpower was made up of indigenous fighters, most often highlanders from the central highlands and members of the Chinese community. A team therefore tended to have barely half a dozen people and had to make do with what it could carry; speed and knowledge of the terrain took the place of heavy weapons. The weapons tended to be shortened, so that they could be carried through thick growth. The indigenous riflemen had known the surrounding hills since childhood and not infrequently decided where it was possible to get through at all.
The face decides whether a figure comes across as alive. It works well to start with a mid flesh color, to lighten the hollows around the eyes and under the cheekbones only at the end, and to avoid pure white and pure black alike. Suggest stubbled cheeks with a thin gray-blue glaze applied over a dry base. Do not draw the eyes at this scale; a suggested shadow is enough.
Before painting, the casting has to be washed, dried and given a base.
