Number ten of the French collection is a gunner of the MAG 58 machine gun. The resin figure comes into being by printing at fine resolution and is offered on its own, that is as one figure per number of the collection.
The MAG 58 is a general-purpose machine gun of Belgian design in 7.62 millimeter caliber, fed from an ammunition belt and fitted with a quick-change barrel. The French army replaced an older home-produced weapon with it and uses it on a bipod in the squad, on a mount and in the rotating cupolas of vehicles. The machine gunner tends to be the man around whom the firing position is built, and his stance in the model determines where the rest of the group is looking.
The weapon deserves a different surface from the clothing. A deep black with a hint of blue looks better than pure black, and you suggest the wear by running silver lightly along an edge once it has dried. The ammunition belt tends to be the most conspicuous detail; bring the brass alive with a thin brown shade. Set the figure onto its base before you start shading the folds, because handling it later damages a finished coat of paint easily and the repair tends to show.
The set is unpainted and unassembled; paints and a suitable glue will be needed to finish it.
