The German Waffen-SS soldier 07 in 1:35 scale

The seventh number of the infantry line comes from the independent French studio BlackSnake Model, whose figures come into being by printing from fine resin directly in the brand's own workshop. Thanks to that the folds of the cloth, the belt buckles and the small fittings hold a sharp drawing that injection-molded plastic cannot offer in this scale. This is a single figure, not a group.

Historical background

During the Second World War the field units of the Waffen-SS were told apart from Wehrmacht infantry mainly by their camouflage clothing. It was pulled on over the tunic, it came in a reversible version for spring and for autumn nature, and its patterns changed several times during the war. It is precisely the camouflage clothing that gives this whole line of figures its characteristic silhouette.

How to manage the camouflage pattern

It pays off to proceed from the lightest area to the darkest one: first lay down the basic sand tone, then add the brown and green blotches with a fine brush and only at the very end the dark veining. At this scale a pattern is better suggested than drawn literally, otherwise it looks coarse from close up. In the end the transitions are pulled together by a thin layer of oil paint.
