Tamiya Sanding Cloth, 1500 grit, is a flexible abrasive cloth measuring 170 x 130 mm for dry and wet sanding alike. In the sanding process it is the middle step - it removes the scratches left by 1000 grit and prepares the surface for 2000 grit.

An abrasive cloth from Tamiya with a grit of 1500, one sheet measuring 170 x 130 mm. It is not a kit and not a model but a tool and a consumable abrasive material. Against sandpaper it has a fabric backing: it is flexible, it goes around rounded shapes and rounded edges, and it does not fold or crack at a bend - and it is precisely creases in paper that tend to cause unexpectedly deep scratches. It can be sanded dry and wet.
Grits work so that a higher number means a finer grain, and sanding goes from coarser to finer. The fifteen hundred is the middle member of the trio 1000 / 1500 / 2000. Its single but crucial job is to remove the scratches left by 1000 grit and to pass the surface on in a state where 2000 grit only smooths it to a finish. Anyone who leaves this step out and jumps from the thousand straight to the two thousand merely polishes the coarse scratches - they do not disappear, and after spraying they show through under the paint, especially under a gloss color or a metallic.
For modelers who build a surface systematically - that is, for everyone who wants a smooth base under the paint. In practice it almost always makes sense to have all three grits: 1000 at the start, this 1500 in the middle and 2000 at the end.
A tool and a consumable, not a kit. Do not inhale the sanding dust - ideally sand wet, otherwise with respiratory protection and ventilation.
