1:35 Panzer IV steel return rollers, pattern 3, 1944 - 45 brings the third shape rendition of all-steel rollers for the upper run of the track, in an extent for one machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
The third rendition of the range that Elefant has worked up for builds of the German medium tank in 1:35 scale. The placing in the name refers to the years 1944 and 1945 and the box covers one machine. Four differently shaped solutions thus stand side by side and the modeler chooses according to the subject.
The return rollers lie on the upper edge of the hull exactly at the eye level of a viewer looking at the finished model from the side. Injection-molded parts from the box tend to be simplified here: they lack the fine ribbing of the disc, the mating rim and the small rivet heads around the hub. The replacement rollers carry these shapes and once painted they markedly change the character of the whole running gear, without the build calling for any work on the structure of the vehicle.
It is rewarding to finish the running gear before the track goes onto the model, because after that the rollers are hard to reach. Let the fitted parts harden overnight and only then handle them. In painting it works well to go from the darkest shade: a black base, on which exposed metal on the edge is suggested with a dry brush, and the area around the hub filled with thicker mud, which on the real vehicle held precisely there.
