This set of masking templates from the Omask brand in the large 1:32 scale serves for spraying the national insignia onto a model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter. According to the product name it covers the A-2, A-3, A-4 and A-5 variants. It is an aid for the build, and the aircraft itself is not in the delivery.
A sprayed insignia has no carrier film, so once dry it merges with the surrounding paint and creates neither a glossy step nor a silvering border. In a large scale, where every unevenness of the surface shows, that difference is noticeable. A sprayed area also behaves the same as the rest of the paint during sanding, weathering and final clear coating, which anyone who goes on wearing a model down will appreciate.
The surface underneath must be perfectly smooth and dry. Lay the template on, press it down with a soft tool all the way round and first spray over it with the tone that is underneath it, so that any paint creeping under is filled with the same color. Only then apply the actual shade of the insignia in thin coats. Lift the template off while the coat has only set, and at a shallow angle.
Masking templates alone are supplied. Paints and a kit do not belong in the package.
