Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese fighter Mitsubishi A7M1 Reppu, Allied code Sam, in 1:48 scale from FineMolds. The kit is marked by fine surface detail and a nicely worked cockpit; the box contains transparent parts and a decal sheet for finishing the model.
The Reppu was developed as the successor to the famous Zero fighter, to a navy specification of the early 1940s. The A7M1 version was the first prototype variant; because its engine was not powerful enough it failed to reach the expected performance, and the program continued later with a reworked version. Because of the end of the war the Reppu never reached production combat service.
It pays to work the cockpit up in detail before you close up the fuselage, to glue the joints with thin cement for plastic and to even out the surface with primer. Japanese schemes stand out after a clear coat under the decals and subtle highlighting of the panels with a wash; an airbrush makes smooth transitions easier.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
