The injection-molded parts of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4 fighter alone, in 1:48 scale. Without decals, without photo-etched frets and without masking films.

The pilots gave the F version the nickname Friedrich and many consider it to this day the most balanced form of the machine. The wing was given rounded tips and lost the tailplane struts, and the gun armament was concentrated on the centerline of the aircraft, so agility was not restricted by mass in the wings. The F-4 subversion of 1941 added a more powerful cannon and add-on armor; it was on this one that a famous pilot fighting over North Africa scored his best-known victories.
The box offers plastic sprues only. Markings and the accompanying equipment are missing from it. It is chosen by the builder who is putting together another example of the same type and who has the accessories from earlier. The enclosed instructions in such an issue tend to be briefer, because knowledge of the procedure is assumed.
Most metal accessories can, with a little patience, be got around by making your own from film and wire. With the glazing that does not apply. The frames of the canopy on this machine are narrow and winding, and cutting tape by hand almost always ends in a wavy edge. Cut film is therefore more valuable here than a fret of metal. The layout of the work follows from that by itself: metal inside while the halves are apart, film onto the glass just before the base coat and off again only after the last clear coat.
For the builder who wants the same machine in a different finish and does not want to pay for the equipment a second time. It also suits when a pair of machines from one squadron is to be made side by side on a common base.
