Sprues of injection-molded plastic for a late Gustav from the production of the works at Wiener Neustadt. 1:48 scale, without brass and decals.

The G-10 designation belonged to machines from the turn of 1944 and 1945, which were given the DB 605D engine with the option of water-methanol injection. The abbreviation WNF refers to Wiener Neustädter Flugzeugwerke, one of the three main production works. Each of them dealt with the cowling and the small covers a little differently, so the machines could be told apart by the shape of the bulges over the engine and by the build of the oil cooler cowling. The high-altitude qualities improved markedly against the older batches, but at the end of the war the supply of fuel and the training of the pilots decided more than flight figures did.
The box carries the injection-molded sprues only. Anyone who wants brass accessories, masks for the framing of the canopy or markings obtains them elsewhere. The item is a source of plastic, whether for a collection of the late variants of the type or for parts needed in converting another kit of the same scale. The sprues also suit you when you are after a replacement for a damaged component of a model under construction.
Working with photo-etched parts is a different craft from building in plastic. Metal that has been cut off remembers its original shape and springs back after bending, so the component does not seat. A brief annealing over a flame helps, after which the brass softens and stops springing, as does a bending bar with a straight edge. Without them, wavy belts and frames that will not close are the result. That is also why a bare plastic package suits some builders: anyone who does not use brass has no need of it.
