Plastic sprues for the kit of the P-39 fighter in 1:48 scale. The OVERTREES build holds sprues only, without decals, photo-etched parts, masks and instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-39 is structurally one of the most unusual fighters of the Second World War. The engine did not sit in the nose but behind the pilot, and it drove the propeller through a long shaft run under the floor of the cockpit. The nose thus freed up was given a cannon firing through the propeller hub and a nose landing gear, which at that time was rather an exception among fighters. The cockpit was also entered through side doors instead of the usual sliding canopy. The result is a silhouette that cannot be mistaken for anything else.
Under this designation the plastic sprues from the kit are sold on their own. Decals, photo-etched parts, masks and instructions are not enclosed. The package assumes a modeler who knows the corresponding kit and wants to build another machine or is keeping room for modifications.
Have the documentation for the corresponding kit ready beforehand. With an aircraft that has a nose landing gear, watch the balance: if the kit allows for nose ballast, do not forget to glue it in before you close the fuselage. Cut the parts off a little away from the gate, sand the remainder and wash and degrease the plastic before painting.
The package will be appreciated by modelers who build American fighters in a larger series or who have their own stock of decals. The contents are plastic sprues only; decals, photo-etched parts, masks, instructions, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
