Injection-molded plastic parts for building the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter in the type 10 version. OVERTREES is the designation of the Eduard line in which the sprues with the plastic parts are sold on their own, without the rest of the contents of the boxed issue.
The I-16 was a breakthrough machine in its day: a cantilever low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear at a time when most fighters still flew as biplanes with fixed wheels. The landing gear was retracted by hand with a crank in the cockpit, which gave the pilots work to do right after take-off. The fuselage is short and stocky, the engine radial, and the whole aircraft therefore looks like a barrel with wings. The short rear end made the I-16 an agile machine, but one merciless to mistakes in flying. The type 10 belongs to the versions with an open cockpit without a canopy.
It is aimed at the modeler who does not need the rest of the contents of the boxed issue: either he has already built one kit of the same type and wants another airframe for the collection, or he builds from his own decals and accessories. That is exactly why the package holds the sprues alone.
Instructions are usually not in the package of this line, so obtain them beforehand from the manufacturer against the manufacturer's part number. Cut the parts off with nippers a little away from the part and level the remainder of the gate with a file, so that you do not tear the plastic. The rounded fuselage will take only careful sanding of the gaps, so that the surface detail is not wiped away. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Decals, accessories, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
