Reductions of German military jerry cans in 1:35 scale for models of vehicles and for figure settings. The form is designated SCHWELM, 1937 pattern; that is the name of the particular shape of container the set depicts.
The standard can of the German armed forces caught on so well that its shape became the pattern for the containers of other armies too, and in English such a container came to be called a jerry can, after that German origin. The capacity is twenty liters, three handles side by side make it possible to carry two at once and to pass a full can to another man without setting it on the ground, sides pressed in a cross stiffen the shell, and the closure with a flip lever needs no tools.
Cans for the same purpose were made by a number of works, and the individual series differ slightly in the pressing of the shell, the shape of the neck and the placing of the lettering. That is exactly why modeling practice tells the individual patterns apart by year. This set aims at the shape associated with the designation SCHWELM and the year 1937.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off, so that the pressing of the sides stays legible. Wash and degrease them before painting. A can is a thing that gets handled roughly, so rubbed paint on the edges and rust around the neck look more convincing than an even shade. The package holds only the cans. The vehicle model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
