Wehrmacht jerrycans in the rendition designated as the 1937 pattern, depicted with the closure open. An accessory for models of military vehicles in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twenty-liter standard jerrycan is one of the few objects of the Second World War that have survived unchanged to this day. You will recognize it by the swages pressed into a cross, which stiffen the metal and leave the contents room to expand, by the three handles side by side and by the folding closure lever, which opens in a single movement without tools. It was made by various works and their renditions differed in detail; this set captures the variant designated as the 1937 pattern.
The jerrycans are depicted with the closure open, which from a modeling point of view is a substantial difference from the closed pieces. An open neck is only to be found where somebody is working with the jerrycan at that moment: at a refueling crew, on a fender beside a soldier with a funnel, in a pile of empty containers at a field fueling point. The set therefore aims at a scene rather than at the brackets on the sides of a vehicle.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the traces of manufacture so that the swages stay legible. Wash and degrease before painting, and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. With an open neck it pays to darken the inside before the surroundings come up for treatment, because later on it is hard to reach into with a brush. Battered edges, worn handles and spill marks at the neck will give the jerrycans a used look in a moment.
For builders of dioramas and for modelers arranging a refueling scene at a vehicle in 1:35 scale. The paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
