Wehrmacht jerrycans in the rendition designated as the 1938 pattern, depicted with the closure open, for models and a diorama in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twenty-liter jerrycan settled into the German army in the second half of the 1930s, and its form then changed only in detail. The basis stayed the same: a pressed sheet-metal body joined around the perimeter, swages pressed into a cross on the sides, three handles side by side and a folding closure lever that can be worked with one hand. Look for the differences between individual renditions around the neck, in the profile of the handles and in the lettering on the shell. This set captures the variant designated as the 1938 pattern.
The jerrycans have the neck depicted open. It is precisely that small thing which gives a model a story: a closed jerrycan merely lies in a bracket, while an open one was used by somebody a moment ago. It comes into its own at a vehicle with its crew during refueling, at a supply dump and in the corner of a field workshop, where the empty pieces stand aside from the full ones.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part, sand the remainder with a fine abrasive and take care not to round off the edge of a swage. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Even a beginner will manage the painting: a base shade, a dark wash into the swages and, once dry, dry brushing on the handles and the upper edges. Spill marks around the neck and worn places where the can is gripped will do the rest. Distinguish the full and the empty pieces by a slight difference in shade, so that the scene does not look uniform.
For modelers of German equipment in 1:35 scale and for builders of dioramas who are short of a small load to fill a scene. The paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
