A plastic kit of the German anti-tank gun 7.5cm PaK 40 from the manufacturer I Love Kit in the large 1:16 scale. Thanks to the large scale it is a sizeable, detailed model of an artillery weapon with photo-etched parts and movable features - the barrel can be elevated and the carriage assembled in either the firing or the travel position. Small accessories such as crew figures tend to be included as well. The exact package contents are governed by the enclosed instructions.
The 7.5cm PaK 40 (Panzerabwehrkanone 40) was, from 1941, the standard German anti-tank gun of 75 mm caliber. It arose as a response to the heavily armored Soviet tanks T-34 and KV-1, against which the weaker guns of 37 and 50 mm caliber were not enough. The PaK 40 became one of the most widespread and most effective German artillery weapons of the war; it was deployed on all fronts and in the later years it formed the backbone of the German anti-tank defense. The split trail of the carriage, the shield and the long barrel with a muzzle brake are its typical features.
The large scale rewards careful work - assemble the movable pivots and mechanisms so that they stay functional. Attach the photo-etch with super glue and the plastic parts with thin liquid cement. Apply a primer before painting; the barrel and the shield will come out well with a subtle shade and subsequent washes into the engraved lines. For the patina use pigments (dust and mud at the wheels and the trail spades) and dry rubbing on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
